Canadian businessman and current Conservative Party Leadership candidate Kevin O’Leary has been compared to current U.S. President Donald Trump countless times, and likely for good reason.
On Friday, O’Leary was questioned by reporters following about an episode of Dragons’ Den that aired on CBC, in which he grabbed a woman’s bottom after a proposal for an investment in Monjeloco Jeans appeared on the show.
After hearing the pitch and watching several models show off the jeans, O’Leary proclaimed:
“Let’s see these bums. Can I touch one? I want to touch one for sure.”
As he fielded questions from the press following a debate at the Manning Centre Conference in Ottawa, he neglected to make a formal apology. Instead, he blamed Liberals before deflecting from the issue at hand entirely by bringing up the economy.
“I’ve had a long career in television, and I think you’re going to find pieces of it chopped up into all kinds of incontextual moments. Some of that tape is so old I have hair. So at the end of the day you’re going to see it dragged out by Liberals.”
The former Shark Tank star continued, telling reporters:
“My point is that in the end of the day, that is television, it’s not policy. This is a different world we’re in here, we’re talking about an economy that’s collapsing, no jobs for millennials, and you want to talk about reality TV? I think you’re missing the point.”
When a reporter asked whether or not he had permission to touch the woman, O’Leary responded, saying:
“I honestly don’t remember, but I’m sure she wasn’t offended. She was obviously trying to sell a deal to a bunch of Dragons and I hope she was successful.”
How is it that it is in any way relevant that she was trying to “sell a deal” when discussing whether or not he had her consent?
Honestly, do we need another “grab her by the p*ssy” politician?! What do you think? Does this clip of O’Leary remind you of Donald Trump? Let us know in the comments!
